Recently my daughter interviewed with a talent agency (she is an Audrey Hepburn look-alike - quite stunning actually). In keeping with their practice of cataloging the features of a potential asset, she was asked to make full disclosure of all body-piercings and tattoos. When she answered, "None," the agent reacted with genuine surprise. "My, you are a strange one," he said. Perhaps I am too out of touch with current popular culture, but my own surprise also is genuine: I can remember a day that seems not terribly long ago when it was the body-pierced and tattooed woman who was regarded as strange.

Body piercing saved my soul...
"He was pierced for our transgressions..."
